Welcome to the Michelham Priory Lodge
The Michelham Priory Lodge, or MPL, was founded in Hailsham in 1928 and moved to Herstmonceux in 1961. Our lodge is registered under the United Grand Lodge of England and as we are located in East Sussex, this makes us part of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Sussex. We are a friendly and welcoming lodge with a diverse mix of members from across a wide variety of interests.
We have 6 regular meetings a year on the third Thursday of January, March, April, May, October and November.
We also meet for rehearsals on a Wednesday evening between September and May.
We have an active and enthusiastic social committee who regularly organise social events throughout the year. Although these often involve lunch or dinner, we try to combine eating out with visits to places of interest. The main aim we strive to achieve from our social functions, is to have fun, but we also use some of them to raise money for our supported charities.
Here’s a list of this year’s social events.
The members partners often meet socially for dinner, which is organised independently of the MPL social events. "Partners that dine" is very popular.
How to become a Mason

Is Freemasonry for you?
With over 200,000 United Grand Lodge (UGLE) members around the world, it is impossible to stereotype the average Freemason. Our members come from all walks of life and they span a wide social spectrum. However, we are careful about who joins us and we expect our members to hold strong values, particularly; integrity, kindness, honesty, fairness and tolerance.
